Five years ago, a gallery would have done most of this. (In theory.)
Today, artists do it themselves. And honestly? Many prefer it this way.
But you have to learn how to make it sustainable.
Start Where You Are
Artists are building new practices from all kinds of starting points. Some lost everything in fires and are rebuilding. Others are shifting from corporate jobs to art careers. Some are emerging from school with talent but zero business knowledge.
The common thread isn't perfect circumstances. It's having clear next steps.
You don't need a complete business plan or perfect materials to begin. You need to pick 2-3 approaches that feel manageable and start there.
